- Yahsat partnered with Satcom Technologies to explore new satellite communication opportunities for socio-economic benefits in Zimbabwe.
Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC (Yahsat), in partnership with Satcom Technologies, hosted a high-level forum on 17 July with various Zimbabwean Government stakeholders at the Hyatt Regency in Harare. During the forum, Yahsat demonstrated new technology to boost connectivity in the country and explored new satellite communications opportunities.
Furthermore, Zimbabwean officials engaged in live demonstrations of Yahsat’s latest Telemedicine and e-learning solutions. These demonstrations gave attendees firsthand insight into Yahsat’s services’ significant impact and showed how the Zimbabwean Government utilse space technology.
Yahsat’s solutions will enable users in remote areas to access essential services such as e-learning, telemedicine, mobility, and fixed services. This initiative is expected to act as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth in Zimbabwe.
“Our satellite-based solutions ensures underserve communities can access e-learning and telemedicine services”, stated Ali Al Hashemi, Group Chief Executive Officer of Yahsat.
“The partnership between Yahsat and Satcom Technologies shows our commitment to bridge digital divide experienced by underserved communities across Africa”. Sulaiman Al Ali, Chief Commercial Officer of Yahsat, added.

The showcase allowed stakeholders to explore Yahsat’s advanced space tech solutions and how it enhances access to education, health, and other services”. The partnership aims to transform Zimbabwe’s connectivity and technological capabilities and elevate the various sectors on the continent. Yahsat’s Thuraya 4 satellite is set to launch in 2024 and begin service in early 2025. This will enable the company to offer Zimbabwe and its extensive network of 28 African countries unique services. The satellite will offer a wide and extended coverage and support multiple technologies.
Yahsat has expanded its presence in Africa by launching YahClick services in Sudan and South Sudan through a six-year strategic contract. This expansion offers efficient digitalisation plans and cost-effective internet services across the region, extending beyond Zimbabwe.
The organisation has partnered with the Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Limited to expand broadband in underserved regions. It has collaborated with Eutelsat Group, Gate for Technologies (G4T), iSAT Africa, and others to provide high-speed internet across multiple African countries.
