The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has announced it has signed an agreement with INFRATEL Africa to advance rural telephony projects across Nigeria.
This project will migrate 100 locations to the NigComSat-1R Ka-band hub platform, enhance rural communication and bridge the digital divide. This initiative aligns with the current administration’s efforts to propel a robust digital economy. Thus, by leveraging the NigComSat-1R satellite capacity, businesses will be able to expand their telecom networks and improve connectivity solutions, ultimately supporting economic growth and development in rural areas.
According to the Managing Director of NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Mrs Nkechi Egerton-Idehen stated, “The collaboration with INFRATEL Africa is a welcome development. NIGCOMSAT Ltd is now positioned to claim its rightful place in the industry. Together, we are making significant progress in delivering services in transponder lease, broadband internet, broadcast services and other turnkey solutions,” she added during the agreement signing between the two companies.”
NIGCOMSAT’s Assistant General Manager, Aisha Bantam, highlighted the company’s commitment to providing technology solutions that enable transformative services such as agency banking, telemedicine, e-learning, e-government, and solar-powered cold storage. These initiatives aim to bridge gaps in service delivery across different social classes and locations, ensuring broad access and inclusivity.
