The European Space Agency (ESA) and the African Space Agency Council convened in Paris today for the first time to strengthen the African-European space collaboration. This historic meeting signals a new phase in Africa-European space relations, fostering collaborative projects and deeper strategic ties.
H.E. Dr Tidiane Ouattara, President of the Council of the African Space Agency, described the gathering as a “decisive step” in strengthening the continent’s space partnership with Europe. He further emphasised the event’s significance in uniting the expertise and ambitions of both regions, aiming to create a sustainable future in space.
The technical assistance team from the GMES and Africa program facilitated this meeting’s success. Further backing came from the Mouvement des Entreprises de France International (MEDEFi), the global branch of France’s largest employer federation, MEDEF. Their combined efforts further underscore a commitment to sustainable cooperation, joining African and European private-sector strengths to build a shared space future.
