As part of a shared mission to promote business development and space technology collaboration between Africa and Japan, Solafune Inc. and the Egyptian Space Agency EgSA) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding MoU.
The agreement was formalised on April 23, 2025, on the sidelines of the 2025 NewSpace Africa Conference in Cairo.
This partnership marks a significant milestone in enhancing space-based innovation and environmental monitoring across Africa.
Under the MoU, Solafune, a leading Japanese start-up specialising in satellite data analysis, will collaborate with EgSA to apply advanced artificial intelligence and satellite based solutions to support government applications and drive sustainable development in key sectors, including agriculture, mining, and environmental management.
The collaboration aims to harness Solafune’s global expertise and technological platform to address local and regional challenges. With a mission to Hack The Planet, Solafune provides a cloud-based satellite data platform currently used in over 120 countries and regions worldwide.
The company continues to expand its footprint across Asia, Africa, and the Middle East by delivering accessible and impactful space technology solutions.
This MoU reflects the growing importance of international cooperation in leveraging space technologies for socioeconomic development and environmental resilience.
It also reinforces Egypt’s positioning as a key regional player committed to integrating advanced data analytics into national planning and decision making processes.
