Orange And Telesat Partner To Expand Global Connectivity With Telesat Lightspeed LEO Network

Orange, a leading global telecom operator and digital service provider, has entered into a multi-year strategic partnership with Telesat, one of the largest satellite operators, to enhance satellite connectivity through Telesat’s Lightspeed Low Earth Orbit (LEO) network.

As part of the agreement, Orange will host a Telesat Lightspeed Landing Station at its teleport in Bercenay-en-Othe, France, with connectivity to Orange’s point of presence (PoP) in Paris via Orange Wholesale International Private Line (IPL). Additionally, Orange has committed to Telesat Lightspeed’s LEO service, integrating it into its global connectivity portfolio for businesses and telecom operators.

Emmanuel Rochas, CEO of Orange Wholesale International, emphasised the significance of this collaboration, stating, “We are honoured that Telesat has chosen Orange’s Bercenay-en-Othe Teleport as the first European gateway for their Lightspeed network. This partnership underscores Orange Wholesale’s expertise as a space network operator and our ability to provide world-class ground infrastructure for advanced satellite constellations. We look forward to strengthening our connectivity solutions with Telesat Lightspeed, enhancing network resilience for mobile backhaul, crisis response, and remote connectivity.”

Glenn Katz, Chief Commercial Officer at Telesat, highlighted the impact of this collaboration, adding, “This strategic partnership demonstrates our commitment to delivering resilient, high-performance connectivity through an integrated space and terrestrial network. Telesat Lightspeed will be key in expanding Orange’s connectivity reach, particularly in underserved regions across Europe, Africa, and beyond. Therefore, our solution meets telco-grade standards and offers robust and secure connectivity tailored for modern telecommunications.”

Telesat Lightspeed’s Carrier Ethernet services will provide reliable, low-latency connectivity backed by service-level agreements, allowing telecom operators to dynamically manage and configure services in real time. In addition, the network integrates a Zero-Trust Security Architecture, adhering to the latest security industry standards.

Orange’s Bercenay-en-Othe teleport, a WTA Tier-4 certified facility, is a critical asset within Orange’s connectivity network, which spans 26 countries and territories. Furthermore, the partnership strengthens Orange’s ability to serve customers in remote and underserved areas, offering a secure, seamless, high-performance satellite connectivity option within its multi-orbit satellite portfolio.

By leveraging Telesat’s advanced LEO technology alongside Orange’s decades-long expertise in satellite and gateway services, this collaboration enhances the resilience of global digital infrastructure and expands access to high-quality connectivity worldwide.
