Azercosmos, Azerbaijan’s space agency, has partnered with ABS, a global satellite operator, to launch Pay TV services for customers in Nigeria and West Africa. Azercosmos and ABS signed the agreement at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) 2024 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, which is taking place from September 13 to 16.
Leveraging ABS’s extensive satellite network, Azercosmos is expected to enhance its video service offerings across the continent significantly. This move will also be commercially beneficial, as the company will seek to generate additional revenue through commercialising satellite services from international partners.
Furthermore, Fuad Aslanov, Vice-Chairman of Azercosmos, highlighted that this partnership opens up new business opportunities in various sectors. Additionally, it will enhance its services throughout the African region. He added that the ABS agreement’s priorities remain quality, customer satisfaction, and sustainability. Ramsey Khanfour, Chief Commercial Officer of ABS, added, “This partnership is a significant step forward in expanding our reach and service offerings in the West African market. By working with Azercosmos, we combine expertise to deliver enhanced satellite solutions that meet the growing demand for reliable and high-quality Pay TV services in the region.”
Azercosmos provides satellite service solutions throughout Africa, building on partnerships throughout the continent. This recent collaboration could prove pivotal in addressing the continent’s increasing demand for satellite-based solutions.
