The Senegalese Space Study Agency (ASES) and the Turkish Space Agency/Türkiye Uzay Ajansı (TUA) have officially entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), focusing on human capacity development and space infrastructure advancement between the two nations.
The MoU was signed by Mr Maram Kaire, Director General of ASES, and Mr Yusuf Kıraç, President of TUA, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology of Turkey and the Minister Counsellor at the Senegalese Embassy in Turkey, His Excellency Mr Cheikh Diallo.
The MoU was signed during the 2024 Space Technology Conference — Central Eurasia, which served as a platform for gathering national space agencies, national satellite operators, industry stakeholders from across Central Eurasia, and representatives from the international space community. The conference aimed to facilitate discussions on the space and satellite business and its contribution to the sustainable socio-economic development of the region.
As per the official statement released by ASES, the agreement establishes a partnership framework to enhance bilateral cooperation in space activities, particularly in local capacity building, training, and space infrastructure development.
This would involve collaborative efforts in research, technology exchange, and joint projects to advance space exploration and the utilisation of both nations in space-related endeavours.
