Algeria and South Africa Strengthen Space Collaboration with New MoU.

On December 6, 2024, the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL) and the South African National Space Agency (SANSA) formalised a significant partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing cooperation in space science and technology. The signing ceremony, a highlight of the state visit by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to Algeria, was co-chaired by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria and President Ramaphosa.

The MoU was signed by Mr Azzedine Oussedik, Director General of ASAL, and Mr Humbulani Mudau, Director General of SANSA. The agreement focuses on fostering collaboration for peaceful purposes, encompassing joint projects in space technologies and applications. It also prioritises the exchange of expertise and information between the two nations.

Furthermore, this partnership underscores Algeria and South Africa’s shared commitment to leveraging space science for mutual growth and regional development. By pooling resources and knowledge, the two agencies aim to contribute to broader scientific innovation and the advancement of space technology in Africa.
