Starlink, the satellite internet service operated by SpaceX, is now officially live in Guinea-Bissau.
This marks the company’s seventh entry into the West African market and sets the stage for broader expansion across the continent.
The development follows the approval granted in April 2025 by the country’s National Regulatory Authority for Information and Communication Technologies ARN-TIC.
Additionally, this follows the provisional licence granted in December 2024, which enabled the company to complete the remaining administrative requirements ahead of launching full operations in Guinea-Bissau.
Officials from the ARN-TIC welcomed the move, which marks a significant step forward in the country’s digital transformation efforts, particularly as internet penetration stands at about 30% as of 2025.
The Starlink Standard Kit will be priced at FCFA 228,000 (USD 400), with a monthly residential service plan costing FCFA 36,000 (USD 63).
Customers opting for the 250 GB residential package will pay a monthly fee of FCFA 18,000 (USD 31). Additionally, the Starlink Minikit will be available across the country at FCFA 117,000 (USD 205).
Starlink’s entry into Guinea-Bissau marks its 22nd presence in the African market.
The company has also secured operational licences in countries such as Somalia and Lesotho, where services are expected to start officially soon.
This underscores Starlink’s rapid expansion across Africa and contributes to its six million global user base across more than 140 countries.
