Starlink Secures Operating License In DRC, Set To Launch Services

The Congolese Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority ARPTC has officially announced that it has granted a telecommunications network and services license to Starlink DRC S.A., a Congolese registered entity of Starlink.
The approval was issued per the Democratic Republic of Congo’s DRC telecommunications and ICT regulatory framework, following the regularisation of the company’s administrative status.
With this authorisation, Starlink is now licensed to operate as an internet service provider in the DRC and is expected to commence service delivery in the coming days.
Starlink, which leverages a low Earth orbit LEO satellite constellation, will play a transformative role in bridging the digital divide across the DRC.
Its technology offers broad and reliable internet coverage, especially in remote and underserved regions where terrestrial infrastructure is lacking or insufficient.
This marks Starlink’s 22nd entry into the African market, following its recent launches in Lesotho and Guinea Bissau in April 2025.
The company’s growing footprint underscores its accelerated strategy to expand satellite internet access across Africa and other underserved regions globally.
